Functional Movement Screenings
Hometown Spine & Sport is proud to offer Selective Functional Movement Screens (SFMA) and Functional Movement Screens (FMS).
These sports specific screening protocols detect an athletes risk for an injury before it occurs. Both screening tools are utilized by many coaches and trainers in the MLB, NFL, NHL, and NBA.
The FMS consists of seven movement patterns which require mobility and stability. The seven following movement patterns are scored from 0-3 points, with the sum creating a score ranging from 0-21 points.
1. Deep Squat
2. Hurdle Step
3. In-line Lunge
4. Active Straight-leg Raise
5. Trunk Stability Push-up
6. Rotary Stability
7. Shoulder Mobility

I am a competitive Olympic weightlifter that had been dealing with some nagging shoulder pain and neck pain for a few months after my last big meet. My shoulders were weak and unstable and my personal methods of rolling them out and trying to strengthen them were not making my situation better.
After deciding an old shoulder injury that was not properly taken care may have been impacting me, I decided to check out Hometown Spine and Sport. Within a little less than two months, we were able to break through scar tissue, strengthen the little supporting muscles, and completely rid of my shoulder pain. I have regained full range of motion and managed to achieve greater records in my snatch and clean&jerk lifts as a result.
Highly recommend this place. He is so knowledgeable and friendly, and really gets a lot of work done on you in a short enough amount of time that you can stop in on your lunch break.
